What it's about

An accident during a time-travel experiment drops Xiang Shaolong, a modern soldier, into the Warring States period — decades before the boy who will become Qin Shi Huang, China's first emperor, takes the throne. Armed with knowledge of how history is "supposed" to go, Xiang has to navigate court politics, shifting alliances between rival kingdoms, and the very real possibility that his presence might change everything.

Xiang Shaolong

The time-displaced protagonist

Pragmatic and quick-thinking, he uses modern know-how to survive — and quietly steer — ancient power struggles.

Ying Zheng

The young King of Qin

The boy-king who will eventually become Qin Shi Huang — his fate is the story's biggest "what if."

Lü Buwei

Powerful Qin chancellor

A historical merchant-turned-statesman whose scheming drives much of the court intrigue.

Why it still matters: Treasure Venture takes one of the most consequential turning points in Chinese history — the rise of the man who would unify the warring kingdoms into a single empire — and runs a "what if a modern person were there to see it happen" thought experiment through it. It's a good entry point if you're curious about the Qin dynasty's origins but want the history delivered with adventure-series momentum.

The story this drama is built around really happened — sort of. Read about how Qin Shi Huang actually unified China.
